Wedding Projects

My sweet StepSis celebrated her wedding on Feb 2.  Yep, Ground Hog's day AND palindrome day. 02/02/2020.

It was amazing, beautiful, perfect.  I helped out a little bit.   I made signs!

I tried to work ahead of time.  Getting vinyl cut out ahead of time and ready to apply as needed.
The wedding ceremony and reception were at Alpine Valley Resort.  Signage helped get people where they needed to be.

I also made beeswax candles for their unity candles during the ceremony.  This was my first venture into tapers.  I made five, in case any were broken along the way.

The couple used the candelabra from my wedding!  S described it as very "Beauty & the Beast"
I also had to do some alterations for my bridesmaids dress.  Seriously, I would rather make a dress from scratch.  Had to take in the top, shorted the straps and hem about 4.5".  This isn't a great reflection of the color.  Its actually much prettier.

Speaking of signs, we celebrated the bachelorette party at one of those sign making places.

Here's my sign.  Yep, married almost 24 years!

I'll share a few wedding pics tomorrow.

Some Recent Silhouette Vinyl Projects

At Christmas the adults in the family don't really exchange gifts, but sometimes its nice to have something small to give.
This year I thrifted small dishes to remake into jewelery dishes. Or change, or keys, or whatever.
The two square Js were for the guys on my side of the family.
The circles were for the women.

Also around Christmas I found this sign at a store, but I am much too cheap to buy things like this.
So I found a clearance picture at Hobby Lobby.
Sanded it down and painted a few layers of white,
and made my own with vinyl.  It really is white, with navy lettering.
Hanging in its place of honor, with our retro lights.  The kids all liked it.  I don't know if it will help remind them, however.

I've also been working on some projects for my step sister's wedding.  It is coming up quickly!  I'll share more when things are done and the wedding is over.

A Few Random Projects on a Thursday

This post is to document a few of the projects I've done lately, but none really require an entire blog post.

I've been diligently cutting up my scraps into usuable pieces.  Squares mostly.
Sometimes I do it just to do some cutting, pulling things from my bin, but usually its after pulls for projects, I'm trying to clean up as I go.

Has anyone else tried the thread from Hobby Lobby?  I picked up these to try because they were 50% off, and as much as I love my Aurifil, I also like a good deal.

I did some heat transger vinyl projects for our school secretary (and E's volleyball coach).  She asked for the Avenger in Training to announce her pregnancy.  It was pretty cute.  I made the other ones just for fun as an early (first) gift. Their family are huge Marvel fans.

I mentioned that I had a bunch of buffalo plaid flannel.  I also had some fleece remnant from Joann. I made the middle three pillows for the girl's room and E made the other two from kits from our trip to Iowa. last spring.
I also whipped up a pair of sleep shorts for E.
This is a piece of vinyl on Mini's brush.  She has the same one as her sister, but her sister refuses to share, especially after an incident of lice last year.  They are Wet Brushes.  They work very well on my girls thick and wavy hair.
