What I'm Working On

 Let's start with a wee finish.  I made up this little Fred Bear ornament.  It was a kit that came with a copy of Quilt Now magazine.  Is anyone else a sucker for those "free projects" that come with the magazines in the book store.  And have you noticed, its the European magazines, not the American?

Anyway, the kit came with a pre-printed bear, the embroidery floss, the ribbon and the stuffing.  I just had to follow the directions.  I even learned the chain stitch.  E has claimed him.

Last week I finished and mailed my first Gridsterbee block of the year.  Carol is collecting pumpkins for a fun holiday quilt.  She sent us the Navy Grunge back ground so that they all coordinate.

I'm still plugging away on the On Ringo Lake Mystery Quilt.  I'm working on clue 6.  Now that its quite established that I will not be an early finisher, I'm just enjoying the process and seeing others finished versions. 

Still working on this leader/ender.  This is the biggest chunk, so far.  I'm sure I'll need to find a border to make it a more usable size.

Up next on the list: Tote bags and new covered couch pillows.  I've been collecting canvas prints from IKEA and its time to use some of them.

And while I'm making totes, I've promised a certain someone a ballet bag.

What I'm Working on Now

 Mostly I feel like I'm working on packing/unpacking and laundry.  No one seems to be home for more than a few days at a time.  We have two more family trips to squeeze in before school starts on Aug 24, too.

But I am slowly starting on a couple of projects.  This first one I'm going to bring up north and maybe at least start cutting squares, even if I don't actually assemble anything.

It's not the first and I'm sure it won't be the last Minecraft quilt out there, but this is what WD wants.  I promised him his "big boy quilt" while he was 10.  He'll be 11 in about 5 weeks.  I better get a move on.

I've had the fabric for a while, all RJR hand sprays.  I think it will look good.  The best thing about webfabrics.net is they tag the fabric so you can reorder exactly the same color! (no affiliation, just a happy customer)

I am also getting started a signature quilt for a dear family from church who are adopting a second girl from China.  For their first daughter I coordinated an 100 blessings quilt (here).  This time around I'm trying something simpler, for more participation, which is a basic signature quilt.

I've got the white squares ironed to freezer paper for stabilization and am having everyone use Pigma Pens.

 I plan on using the Falling Charms pattern from Missouri Star Co - but somewhat reversed, the squares will be the white and the stairs will be from Gooseberry by Lella Boutique. BTW do you get their Block Magazine?  I love it.  It's all patterns, no ads, fun stories and usually a helpful tips section in the back.  (again, no affiliation)

 I'm also getting ready to celebrate my paternal Grandmother's 100th birthday with my family - so there is some work for that as well, but those pictures will have to wait until after the party.  Wouldn't want to spoil anything!

Really Random Works In Progress 4.21.16

 Lots of Works in Progress, or Works About to be in Progress, or even Works  I'm Dreaming Of around here.

 Starting to make plans for this year's Renaissance Faire.  These won't all get used, but at a dollar a piece, its worth picking them up.

 The above stack is for E's dress.  The one on the most far right in the first picture.

 I'm working diligently on my next Four-in-Art project.  Colorful Music.

 As I work on the FIA piece, I am using these bonus blocks from my last quilt as leader-enders.  A "free" quilt all around.

 I picked up some cheap tops for Mini yesterday.  I am planning to match them to stash fabric and whip up some shorts.  She has none, and we had some very warm weather on Monday.  Time to plan for summer.

 I did my word for April. All the words are knitting themed.  That 2 was difficult.  The letters are getting easier, though.

 Have you seen this new kit from Dritz?  Make your own Espadrilles?  I am all over that! Can't wait to get started.
