What do you think?

Decision time for the mermaid.  There are three backgrounds to choose from.  I took each picture with and without a flash.  There are thunderstorms here today, so no natural lighting.
 Blue background with turqoise accents.

 Green batik background.

And the graduated background that I pieced.
Any opinions and comments would be greatly appreciated!

I love the pieced look, but the mermaid gets a bit lost in it. She stands out beautifully with the green batik. Regardless of what you choose, you will have something beautiful when you're done!

Hi! I'm a big fan of the first one. Regardless of which one you chose, it's going to be fabulous.

My first comment on your blog though I've been following you for quite some time. I really thought I was going to like the pieced background the best but I like the first one the best...blue with turquois. She gets a little lost on the piece work. The piece work is so beautiful on it's own.

I like the first one with the background that appears like little seaweed leaves but the gradient backdrop is nice as well - heck, they all are! You do nice work!

I like #3 because it looks like deep water and blends in with the lower part of the mermaid. I think for "realism" the mermaid should not stand out so much that she looks fake in the contrast. I also like the last photo with the variation of colors for similar reasons. However the computer may not give "true" color depiction.

I like #3 because I know you've put a lot of work into it. I also like the graduated color because, like Anita said, it reminds me of going deeper into the ocean.

However, if that's too much work to be "hidden" behind the mermaid, I really love the water-like texture of the batik.

Can't wait to see what you choose!

I like the first one best - at least as far as I can tell from the coloring on my computer.
