Fiborn Quarry

Not a lot of time to blog this week, so how about some vacation pictures?  These were taken at Fiborn Quarry in the U.P. of Michigan.  It is essentially a ghost town now.  The only buildings that remain are some of the actual quarry buildings.  The town and school buildings are long gone.  They mined limestone to make the carbide gas for miner helmet lights.

Looks like a scary story could've been created for the kiddos, and I think this is one of the best pics I've seen of Silas...
