Sewvember Part 3: Fini!

My internet speeds are finally up to normal, and I've got a few minutes to sit and blog just a bit.  I thought I'd finish up Sewvember.
24 Level Up.  I hope to level my FMQ up to these ladies some day.
25 & 26 Best & Detail:   This is one of my best and favorite quilts.
27 OH NO!  Lots of seam ripping to get this dress right.  It is done, now.  Needs photographs.
28 Sewing Space.  I sew right in the middle of everything in the dining room.
29 Confessions: I tend to leave thread snips all over the place.  Even in the car door.

30 Up Next.  Top to bottom: Handbag, New dress, vintage house coat, New quilt, a basted quilt to quilt.

Sewvember Part 2

For lack of other blogging ideas today.  I'll keep you all updated with my participation in Sewvember, hosted by Bimble and Pimble.

Day 13: Style  Mine is all over the place.
Day 14: Help!  I posted this sort of as a joke for help for fabric intervention, but in reality, none of these packages are fabric.  I will probably, however, start a new fabric fast in the new year.
Day 15: Heirloom.  I have been entrusted with a number of quilts and tops from my Father in Law, made my his grandmother.  These are just a couple favorites.
Day 16: UFO  My oldest UFO to date.  15 years.  45 hand pieced log cabins.  None are the same size.
Day 17: Solids or Prints:  I tend toward prints, even if they read as solids.  Even in nature you rarely see a true solid, there is always shadow and shading.
Day 18: Dream project.  So I posted this on the 18th.  I've had the pattern and fabric for ???  With lots of encouragement, I've gotten it all cut out and ready to start assembling!
Day 19: Workhorse.  My trusty Husqvarna.  Sews Leather and lace.
Day 20: Tried and True.  It always comes back to simple square patchwork.  1-patch, 4-patch, 9-patch, 16-patch, even pixelated is just square patchwork.
Day 21: Best Part.  The best part is giving the quilts away.  This is for a sweet baby due in about 3 weeks.
Day 22: The vault: I like to pick up vintage patterns at the thrift stores.  I haven't made one yet, but this one is definitely on the list!  Especially after the IG conversation it started.
Day 23: Essentials.  Pretty fabric, quality thread and good needles.  That's all I need.

Sewvember

Bimble and Pimble  is hosting a Photo a Day Challenge on IG.  Each day has a theme.  I've been playing along, and for those of you not on IG, thought I'd share my so-far pictures here.
Day 1: Three Facts (I took a selfie! Can you believe it?)

Three Facts. 1. I am an only child, who turned around and had 5 kids. 2. I don't remember learning how to sew. One of the first things I remember working on with my mom was a flannel robe. I was maybe 5. 3. I spend most of my time sewing quilts, but can do apparel or other things equally well.

Day 2: Like a Boss: I collect sewing and quilting books and magazines Like a Boss.
Day 3: Inside: Two rolls of batting ready and waiting for quilt insides.
Day 4: Inspiration: Really, inspiration is everywhere.
Day 5: WIP: Some of my current Wips. (one is done...)
Day 6: Slow or Fast.  In this case I was stitching slowly, hand sewing all the outlines.
Day 7: Stash.  These are the pre-cuts and bundles that I keep inside.
 Day 8: Why sew?
Day 9: Game Changer: I have two.  1. Moving the sewing area into the dining room, so I can sew any time, and still be fully available to kids. (also helps me keep neat and organized) 2. Discovering sewing and quilting blogs.  I'm not the only obsessive sewist out there.
Day 10: View.  No filter here.  This is what I see out my dining room window.
Day 11: Tools.  These are the things I use pretty much Every Day.

If you want to find my on IG look for @rachel_thelifeofriley
You can join in the challenge, too.
