Finish Along Q3

I kinda dropped the ball on getting last quarter's finishes linked up :(.  Actually with all the travel and adventures I totally forgot.  We'll try again this go round.  I'm pretty much just listing all the UFO's I've got around and here's hoping I get them all done.  Let's just say I'm being ambitious, but there's nothing wrong with that, right?
Listed in order of priority:

My next Four-in-Art mini.  The bottom is the piece basted.  The top is the colors I'm working in.  Reveal will be August 1, so this one will definitely get done!
Next in line is the 100 blessings quilt.  I've got all the fabric and I'm ready to go!
And the other quilt with a deadline, the stars quilt for the Guild Challenge.  Due at the August meeting, which is the end of August.
The Downton Abbey quilt is basted and ready for quilting.  This one doesn't have a deadline.  I should give myself one just to get it done.
And my Central Park top.  Again, no deadline looming, so not much motivation to finish.
And in all of this somewhere, I have at least 4 Renaissance Fair costumes to make.

Pear Brights Finish

I know, its kind of a lame name for a quilt, but I don't have anything better.

*I took the picture above this morning, I think it shows the brighter colors better*
A finish for the Pear Brights Quilt!  This is my second finish for this quarter's Finish a Long and frankly will be the last. Original list *here*

I originally started the top last spring in a class that I taught.  I then got it basted last October.

Finally got it quilted and bound.  I just did a sort of cloud/bumpy lines back and forth across the whole quilt.  I didn't really mean to quilt so densely when I sat down to it, but I can't seem to help myself.
The border is half pink/ half green, thanks to some suggestions.
Lots and lots of texture after washing and drying!
 The back.

The details:
Finished size: 47" x 56"
Batting: Pellon Cotton
Thread: Aurifil to piece, Quilted with Gutermann
Fabric: Connecting Threads, Pearadise
Pattern: My Own

FAL Q4 Round Up

Time to do a round up of my Finish-along Quarter 4 goals and finishes.  My original post can be found *here*.

Disappearing 9 Patch times 2.  Done and Done!
 Rainbow baby Quilt Done!
 Pumpkin Patch Quilt.  Done!
Pear Brights. Still basted.  Not Done.
Log Cabin.  Not Done.  Didn't even look at it!

Four out of Six isn't too bad, considering the holidays and such.  If I got a move on, I could probably even squeak in the Pear Brights for a finish.  Hmmm, have to think about that one.

Thanks to Leanne for hosting this year's Finish Along Link Ups.  Katy of the Littlest Thistle will be the hostess for 2014.

Rainbow Quilt Finish

A finish!  I pieced this top a few months ago.  In April, as a matter of fact.  I even pieced the back at the same time.  And then I folded it up and it sat.

I finally got it basted, along with three other quilts and brought them up north. Quilted two and started this one.

Color is a bit off in this pic, but its a good shot of the texture.  I quilted down each row in a sort of infinity shape.
Finished the quilting about three weeks ago and got a binding on.  I also decided that I really wanted to hand sew the binding on this one by hand.  Binding is black with rainbow hearts.
Got that part finished in the car on the way home from Iowa last week.
I'm not sure if it was the quilting, batting, fabric, or combination of all three, but this baby shrunk 3 inches overall.  Went in the wash at 39" x 39", came out 36" x 36".
The backing is a piece of tie dye fabric I bought in Boston 18 months ago, plus some leftover squares and a strip of plain black.  I actually managed to line them up really well.
I used a thicker shiny grey polyester embroidery thread by Coats and Clark for the top.  Aurifil in the bobbin and on the binding.
 Gratuitous baby shot.

I really love this quilt and kind of want to keep it, but we need baby quilts/blankets like, well, you know.

This is also a finish for the Finish A Long hosted by Leanne of She Can Quilt.
Original list found *here*.  There are only two things left on the list, however the end of the quarter is coming fast, and so is Christmas!

Disappearing 9 Patch: Take 2

I know: DeJaVu all over again.
You see, I actually made Two of these disappearing 9 patch quilts.  They are different, I promise. It is not a trick of photo editing.
They each have a different binding.
The first was quilting with wavy lines, and this one was quilting with (relatively) straight lines.
 Same backing for each, though.

 See? Two separate quilts.
This makes for another finish for the Finish A Long.  Original list *here*

  The facts:
46" x 63"
Fabrics: All kinds from my stash
Batting: A thin poly from Joann
Thread: Coats and Clark Cotton in White

I will be donating this one to Operation Snuggles - quilts for children whose parents are in the military and being deployed.

Dissapearing 9 Patch: Take 1

Yay! A finish for this Friday.
A snuggle sized Disappearing 9 Patch.

It started as a challenge of sorts from my Guild-as many members as wanted could put together a disappearing 9 patch and we'd share them in July.
I had a top all put together by the end of February.
I took apart a seam to make two quilts and then they sat for many months.  It didn't seem so pressing since baby girl was due in July and I knew I wouldn't be able to share my quilts at guild.  I finally got them basted in September and took them with me up north to quilt.  Wednesday I got the binding on.  Yesterday washed and photographed (on a cloudy windy day) and the first one blogged today.
This one is quilted with wavy lines along the seams.
The back is a home dec weight cotton.
