100th Day at School

On the way to school I realized that I have been helping my children do 100 day for 10 years.  And I six more to go.
*sigh

This year's offerings:

Si's was probably the most complex.  During some dinner conversation we realized that Kix cereal would make great Pacman pellets and thus cheeseballs would be great Power Pellets.  My kids were excited that I would have to purchase both.  I never buy cheeseballs.  And they always come in a huge container.

I printed off a game board.
I started out trying to use the light box, but it wasn't great, so I ended up eyeballing it.  Also because it needed to fit on the shirt.  Good enough.
Board, ghosts, and pacman himself were just fabric paints.

Lots of E6000.  The kids shirts were still pretty stinky this morning, hope they don't all come home with headaches.

Mini has a caterpillar/worm/centipede.

I just glued on the pompoms.  Gave him a googly eye face and pipe cleaner antennae.  Fabric paint for the smile and feet.
I ended up wrapping it around to the side to get 100 on the shirt.
WP really just wanted to do 100 100s.  I thought we could make it cuter than that.  So I found a clip art image of the mustache guy and added a 1 in front of the glasses. These are cut out with my Silhouette machine on heat transfer vinyl.  I hadn't used it before and thought this would be a great way to try it out.
I had to use front and back to get them all on there.
I found one mistake last night and another this morning.

Only one was able to be fixed.  Do you see them?

One is missing a 1 - so I cut out a new one this morning.
One has a black nose - I forgot to "weed" out that extra piece, and once its ironed down, its permanent.  I think this is a fun shirt, so he'll probably get some wear out of it.

I pointed out to Si not to wear his shirt around the dogs - they might eat it!!

100th Day 2017

100 day was actually a couple months ago already at my kid's school.  In fact, they just started their last quarter yesterday!  But I wanted to make sure I had a record of what we did for posterity.  I was determined that they would win prizes this year!

First up is Si who was a 100 pip Lego.  The secret?  Plastic shot glasses.  (oxymoron?) Really.  We glued them on with E6000.  Then spray painted the whole box green.  Number 100 is actually on his head.
I dipped on of the shot glasses in a darker green to make the "bottom" of the Lego block. He got a first prize!

WP had a coat made of those air bags that come in mailed packaging.  After Christmas we easily had 100.
A little clear packaging tape and some time - et voila!  He got a second place.  We were all disappointed.  The popping of the coat was great fun, though.

Really Random Thursday 4.7.16 The Bees Knees

For the last couple of weeks, its been all about the Bees.
 Prepping Frames, Building Frames
 Putting foundation in frames.
Painting hive bodies.  Inside when its cold,
And outside when it was warm enough.
I've got all my stuff, the bees are on the truck from California as I type this.  As of Saturday, I will bee an official Beekeeper.

In other randomness, the chives came back on their own this year.
And when I'm not bee prepping, I've squeezed in some quilting.

And this scares me and makes me laugh.  For 100th day, WD's teacher put their photos through an app to age the kids.  I think that he either looks like an old woman, or old Frodo from the Lord of the Rings Movie. (he's 10)

Family Friday - 100 Day

Every year at the kid's school they celebrate 100 day.  Food, games, counting and wearing 100 of something.  They have lots of fun with it.  I'm pretty sure we never did such a thing when I was a kid!  Anyway, this year's 100 day T-shirts:
 100 Ants for WD
100 Red, White, and Blue Feathers for E.
I totally forgot to get pictures of the kids wearing them this morning.  Oh, well, maybe later.

Due to large amounts of hot glue, these shirts will not be washable.....
Have a great weekend everybody.  Thanks for reading my little blog.

Oh, and guess what - Measured by the Heart featured me twice today!

100th Day

This past Friday was 100 Day at School.  The kids are supposed to wear 100 of something to school.  Here were our offerings:

100 Paper Clips on the neck and sleeves of Will's T-Shirt

And 100 beads sewed on for Eleanor.  I actually made this for last year, but Ellie was sick and missed out - so glad it still (pretty much) fit this year.

The variety of items on the other kids was pretty neat.  Peanuts, pom poms, bows, even balloons!  I've got some ideas squirreled away for next year.

On a completely different note: We have a Winter Storm Watch coming, AND a Blizzard Watch coming over the next 2 or 3 days.  I have to say that I am looking forward to it!  I love big snows.  We have a huge stockpile of wood out in the garage, so we'll be ready just in case we lose power.  All that being said, this is Wisconsin, and things could change.  We may get nothing.  But a girl can hope....
