Family Friday: Spirit Week

It's been Spirit Week at school.  I had to share the pictures, because they're cute, and a couple took a bit of sewing.
Mini won on day one "Camo Day".  That dress?  I found at a thrift store.  Paid $2.50.  It was an XS women's dress by Ralph Lauren!! I took off the two bottom layers of skirt and it fit Mini perfectly!  I do think that Camo Day is probably a Wisconsin thing....

 Tacky Tourist Tuesday.
The fanny packs were courtesy of my MIL!

Disney Day.  Mini is Tinkerbell.  You can't see the wings, but I made them at least 10 years ago for E.  And I had to figure out the puffballs on her shoes.  Probably Mini's favorite part.
Thank goodness Disney owns Star Wars, so we've got Obi Wan Kenobi (I was going to put a link about the cloak, but turns out I never blogged them.  Guess I'll have to work on that)
 and A Storm Trooper.
And Throwback Thursday.  I put together a couple hippie outfits for the boys.

And made a poodle skirt for Mini.  Every girl needs one.  It was an easy and fast project.  Probably less than an hour.  I did reference this tutorial, however I only used it for the measurements.  As an experienced sewist, the instructions weren't great...

Spirit Week Costumes

Working backwards with these posts.

Last week was Spirit Week at school which leads up to the basketball tournament hosted at the school.

The Highschool has daily themes and the middle school goes by the rainbow - ending on blue - since that is the school color.  95% of what they are wearing was found at the thrift stores or at home.

Monday: Book Character and Red
E and two friends were the Women of Star Wars - E brought a graphic novel of the movies to prove they were in a book.   Padme, Princess Leia, Rey

WD went all in.   I even found red Converse at the thrift store.  I think he looks like a football coach in this picture.

Tuesday: Pirate/Princess Day and Orange. I tried hard to get E to be a princess, because EVERYONE ELSE was a pirate.  Seriously.

WD on the right next to a few other orange friends.

Wednesday: Western Day and Yellow.

E was a tumbleweed.  My favorite costume all week.  We wrapped her up in grapevine.

WD going all out, again.  The pants are rain pants! Found at the thrift store.  Plus a little free advertisement for his mama. ;)

Thursday: Tacky Tourist and Green.
E brought lots of props. Pretty much all of our travel books plus a globe.
WD really wanted to be a leprachaun for green day!  I even got that hat/beard thing at a thrift store.

Friday was Crazy Cougar Day and Blue & White.
Not sure what's going on in this pose - but she was all blue.  There is even blue chalk in her hair.

For some reason I didn't get a picture of Will.  We spray colored his hair blue.  It was fun.

Glad that the week is over though.  I'm sure next year will come soon enough.  At least I can hold on to all the rainbow stuff for WD!
