Quilts by Grandma

 As I mentioned recently, my grandmother turned 100, and is a prolific quilter and sewist.  As part of her birthday celebrations, I put together a slide show of as many items that she's made as I could.  I won't share all of them here, but I will share the things she's made for our family.

 E's blue and white quilt.

 Two Peek-a-boo Teddy quilts.  One for WP and one for Mini.

 Small star table topper.

 She made these monthly calendar quilts when I got married.  I lost the December one.  I think it might be packed with Christmas items, somewhere.

 This quilt was on my bed as a child.  There is also a matching pillow sham.  Sunbonnet Sue or Colonial Lady.

 Elephant quilts.  One for WD and one for Si.

 She also made this lovely afghan for my wedding.  The back looks as good as the front.

 This one is one of the fought over ones.  It is a flannel sampler.  No batting, but a flannel backing, as well.  Super cozy.

Really Random Thursday 4.14.16

 Bees and Fabric and Quilts Randomness

 Brand New Comb from my bees.  They built it in the wrong place, that makes it "burr comb".

 Its finally warm enough for them to come out.  Not much flowering, yet, though.  Soon.

 This is my leftover stack from my newly finished quilt.  There will be a finish reveal tomorrow!

 This is the most used/coveted quilt in the living room.  It is flannel on both sides with a thick poly batt in the middle.  I'm trying to kill germs in the sun and fresh air.

Flannel Quilt - Done!

This is one of the pre-Christmas projects I was working on, but couldn't fully show.

 A quilt for Mr. Riley.

 The two panels are a vintage flannel with British Soldiers given to me my my step-mom. (See this Post)

 I didn't want to cut the fabric up too much, the more seams, the more you lose, so I went with the two panels.

 I purchased the blue and red flannels for the borders.

 I added flannel from my Stash to finish the back.

 Mr. Riley complains that my quilts are 'nice, but not warm'.  So.  I bought 8oz polyester batting for this baby.  I don't know what I was thinking!  Flannel stretches, and 8oz is really thick.  Therefore, lines aren't particularly straight.  The quilt probably isn't very square, either - I haven't checked.

But hey, it's warm, he likes it, and check out that loft!
