I stayed up a little late the other night to finish this quilt. I really wanted it done before we leave town tomorrow
I bought myself a bunch of orange fat quarters to make this quilt. I did check my boxes of fabric and discovered I had pretty much no orange. I think three of the fabrics came from what I already had, the rest is new. But now I've got an orange stash going!
The back is a lovely fall print, not that it will get seen much, since it is a wall hanging, thus the random orange square in the corner and green frog sleeve! (I have sooo much of these frogs, seriously, this has been around for years)
The black? Wool. I accidentally felted a pair of Mr. Riley's wool pants in the wash, but didn't want to throw out perfectly good fabric. As you can see the texture is awesome. It wouldn't really have mattered what I quilted, since you can't see the quilting in the wool.
I actually did loops all over. Orange Sulky variegated in the orange section. Black in the wool.
I pieced with the gold Aurifil and the bobbin had the black Aurifil. The Coats and Clark was for the binding. It was the only thing I could find that matched closest.
A happy fall finish with some leaves in the background.
This is also my first finish for the Finish A Long Quarter 4!

I love your pixelated pumpkins! The quilting looks great on it too :-)
What a great quilt for fall!
Hello Rachel,
Lovely colours, and great creative use of your husband's ruined trousers! Does he suspect you might have wrecked them on purpose?
There is zero orange in my cupboard. I think I'm scared of it.
Love,

This is wonderful, I love the oranges and the black black of the wool.
I really love your pumpkin quilt. Great idea for the black border fabric too. Waste not, want not!
