Thursday Randomness

The major theme for this week would have to be snow.  We got about a foot over 24 hours.  Heavy and wet snow.  Its tough to be 2 in a foot of snow.  Hard to get around.
 When you're 9, however, its a blast!
The four year old had fun, too.  But was pretty cold and tired after a couple hours of hard play.
This is how we deal with the snow at hour house.
Picked up my crayon for the crayon challenge at my guild.  We make a 12" square quilt with the crayon color as the major color - they are auctioned off for charity.  Melon.  Do they even make fabric in that color?  Ugh.  I need some major thoughts on this one.
With all the snow and not going anywhere I finished my dissapearing 9 patch top.  I don't love it.  Not real sure I like it.  More uggh.  Too many frogs.
We've got a UFO challenge going on at our guild.  The deal is you pay a dollar for each UFO that you want to complete during the year.  For each one you finish you put your name in the pot for half the money (the other half goes to the guild).  Also, for each step you have to finish your quilt you can pick out a fat quarter.  Because I finished quilting and binding the Pioneer quilt, I got to pick two fat quarters.
I'll tell you what.  I have never seen so many finishes at show and tell before!  Nothing motivates quilters like cash and free fabric!

That's funny that you say 'too many frogs' on the quilt top. What jumped out to me were the stripes and the orange. =) Different eyes.

Love the teapot and square fabrics!

Michael Miller, I think its called Wallpaper flowers (or something like that) is a beautiful coral color - kind of like melon.

Well, I LOVE orange so if you are searching for some fabric I could maybe help you out.

That 4-year-old of yours has gorgeous eyelashes. I look at eyelashes a lot as all three of my grandkids have an overabundance.

I love your snow pictures. It is supposed to be 80 degrees here this weekend...

I wasn't sure if that would post, so I went ahead and tried it. :-) Hope that helps. You might find something similar somewhere else too.

About the disappearing nine patch - I was wondering if you took the rows apart vertically and put stripes of a solid in if it would help. White perhaps with a white border on the outside. Maybe not. It was just a thought. It seems like it's close to working and I can see how some girls would really like it. :-)
