Let me apologize for not being around this space and replying to emails and comments.  My computer got quite bogged down.  In fact it was taking me over an hour just to upload pictures.  So I found myself busy with other things.  Fortunately my in house tech guy got things moving again for me. 

I was originally going to talk about binding last Wednesday, but seeing as I'm still at it, I'll share what I've been working on.

 I am really looking forward to this week.  I feel like we've gotten a 'free' week before the official start of Christmas, Dec.1.  My goal this year is to really enjoy the season and my family and not freak out about deadlines and projects. 

Applying a Quilt Label

I've been trying to incorporate my quilt labels into the backs of my quilts more, lately.  In my Jacob's Ladder quilt the label was pieced into the back.  I like that it makes the label more permanent, and also it isn't the last thing that has to be finished.  AND you don't have to hand sew it on to the back of the quilt!

 Today I'll show you how I did the label for my Ruby Hexagon Quilt.

First, decide what kind of label you want.  I decided to tie in the label with the hexagon pattern on the front.

 Fold and iron under 1/4" on all sides.

 Pin to your quilt backing.  I did a little rough measuring to make sure the label would end up on the back of the quilt and not off the edge!

 Sew down the folded side - close to the edge.  I also added an extra line of stitching around the inside hexagon, too.  You don't have to do that.  Now you can layer and baste your quilt top and back.

When you do your quilting your label will truly be a part of the quilt.
