Four In Art Quilt Reveal - Queen Anne's Lace

This little adventure started a few months back when Elizabeth posted about seeing the Twelve's Quilts in person.  She wondered if it was something any one else was interested in, and I immediately said yes - let's do it!

We got two more people to jump in and started our challenge.  Create a 12x12 art quilt, based on a theme.  We would all reveal ours on a specific day.  Today is the day.  Here is my Queen Anne's Lace.
I had the privilege/stress of picking the first theme.  In a way it was good, because I already knew I wanted to do a quilt like this, so this was a good opportunity to get it done.
It started with an image I saw in an Audobon book on wild flowers from the library.  A solitary bloom of Queen Anne's Lace on a black back ground.  The above picture is my own.  An attempt of my own re-creation.  Queen Anne's lace is one of those amazing flowers that is made up of hundreds of little flowers.

I blew up the photo, and with fusing, beading and hand stitching (lots of hand stitching) I finished it up last night.
I'll get a post up soon with more pictures and detail of the process.
I am the last to post today - I had to wait for the sun to come up for some decent pictures, and a trip to the grocery store was in order.

Elizabeth and Betty's lovely quilts can be found here.  Betty doesn't blog, but can be found on Flickr.
Leanne's blog post and amazing quilt can be found here.

Tomorrow Elizabeth announces our next theme.  I can't wait!
