Four In Art Quilt Reveal - Queen Anne's Lace

This little adventure started a few months back when Elizabeth posted about seeing the Twelve's Quilts in person.  She wondered if it was something any one else was interested in, and I immediately said yes - let's do it!

We got two more people to jump in and started our challenge.  Create a 12x12 art quilt, based on a theme.  We would all reveal ours on a specific day.  Today is the day.  Here is my Queen Anne's Lace.
I had the privilege/stress of picking the first theme.  In a way it was good, because I already knew I wanted to do a quilt like this, so this was a good opportunity to get it done.
It started with an image I saw in an Audobon book on wild flowers from the library.  A solitary bloom of Queen Anne's Lace on a black back ground.  The above picture is my own.  An attempt of my own re-creation.  Queen Anne's lace is one of those amazing flowers that is made up of hundreds of little flowers.

I blew up the photo, and with fusing, beading and hand stitching (lots of hand stitching) I finished it up last night.
I'll get a post up soon with more pictures and detail of the process.
I am the last to post today - I had to wait for the sun to come up for some decent pictures, and a trip to the grocery store was in order.

Elizabeth and Betty's lovely quilts can be found here.  Betty doesn't blog, but can be found on Flickr.
Leanne's blog post and amazing quilt can be found here.

Tomorrow Elizabeth announces our next theme.  I can't wait!

You are the most patient person I know, cutting each of those petals out of so many different fabrics. I love the beads too, they do look like the centres of the flowers. Your quilt is just beautiful!

Rachel, this is amazing and your patience - heavens, how many petals are there? The greenish beads are such a great touch and that you used so many different whites - with pattern - is lovely. Well done!!!!!

Incredible. Beautiful. Gorgeous. Makes me miss Virginia where Queen Anne's Lace grows abundantly.

It's early in the morning where I am, and all the buttons to post are in another language, is I hope I do this right! I woke up thinking about Four-in-Art, and was so anxious to see the quilts, I am sitting here in the dark, typing this.

Oh, my-oh-my! Is my first reaction to your quilt, and certainly that will be any other responses of mine as well. I LOVE this vision, this creation of Queen Anne's lace. It is so beautiful and such a beautiful interpretation of your chosen theme. The beads and teensy little blossoms are perfection--I'd love to see this in person but since I can't, I'll just have to be content with your pictures and description.
I think we all were stretched in different ways, and I for one, am rearing to go on the next go-round. I loved working on this theme, so thank you, thank you. And thanks also for your lovely quilt as well!
