Ruby Baby Quilt Finish

 Yay!  Another Quilt Finish!
This baby quilt is for a friend who is expecting a little girl around the same time I am expecting.  Last year I made a hexagon quilt for the baby's big sister (see it here).
A week or two ago I posted a picture of all the Ruby scraps I was able to pull together to see what I could come up with for a matching quilt.  I did get lucky, and my LQS had two bolts of Ruby left on the clearance rack, the pink and white scallops and the small roses print.  The white is a tonal print.
The back is flannel, and as it turns out, a Christmas Print!  Fresh Fallen Snow by Kris Lammers and Maywood Studio.  It is really close, though, to the original Ruby swirl print, and oh, so snuggly.
When I sat down I wasn't entirely sure how I was going to quilt it, I ended up doing all stitch in the ditch, to show off the piecing.  Also, this quilt never would have gotten done so quickly if Mr. Riley and 'Papa' hadn't taken (all four!) kids camping overnight.  I got all the quilting done in one night, and all the binding the next day, thanks to rainy day thunderstorms.

The facts:
54" x 54" finished size.
Fabrics: Ruby, Maywood Studio and white tonal.
Batting: Pellon Natural Cotton
Thread: Pieced with neutral Aurifil, quilted with Gutermann white and Superior Bottom Line in bobbin.  Bound with pink Aurifil.

This is a wonderful quilt. Your friend is lucky to have you to make her such a lovely heirloom-to-be, but I'm betting it will be used and cherished daily.
