I also made her for our 50 Shades of Grey challenge at my local quilt guild. We had one of those get togethers where everyone brought a yard of fabric, then starting ripping in half, then passing, then half, and so on. The rules were pretty loose. Mostly grey. Not more than 50" per side. Other than that, what ever we wanted.
A couple of summers ago when we went to Disney, they had cute plush of Mickey, Minnie and Goofy that were black, grey and white. I really loved them, but knew that I really didn't need them. But I decided to make my own with this challenge. First, I found a classic picture of Minnie and used that to make a pattern.
All the pieces are fused with Pellon Wonder Under, and then satin stitched around the edges.
I used the satin stitch as part of the quilting, and then swirly pebbles around the outside.
The back looks almost as good as the front.
We all brought in our projects at the last meeting, and there were 38 people who had participated, which was really great. We did vote for favorites, results will be in at our Christmas Party in November.
