Mitten Quilt - Finish!

So happy to get this little quilt finished and up on the wall!  I've had it in my head for about two years.  After another project a while back I had a stack of 10 white flannel mittens.  I always wanted to use them in a quilt.

I used a fat quarter of snowflake printed material and some dark navy to create the 9-patch.  The mittens were lightly fused to the background and then I did a button hole stitch around each one, by hand.

The quilting is a variegated thread and some small stippling.  I quilted right up to the mittens, so they stand out a bit.

I'm not sold on the leaves and berries on the one mitten.  I can't decide if I like it, or its weird and distracting.  I'll leave it for a couple of days and see how I feel.

The back isn't particularly Christmas-y or Wintery, but a good chance to use up some fabric.  I created pockets at the top to insert a dowel.  This is the most brilliant way I've seen to hang little quilts.  I stole it from Elizabeth at OPQ.
This little quilt finished at 16.5" square.
See you tomorrow with the list of WIPS!

What a darling little quilt! I think I would either take off the holly and berries, or sew some onto two more mittens to add continuity.

I think the holly an berries are a bit of the "unexpected". Leave them! Of course I see that you've decided to take them away... but just so you know someone did like it ;)

I like the leaves/berries. I LOVE the pocket for a dowel-I am making several wall hangings and I think I will use this idea. Great little quilt!
