Clothing Labels

One of my own Christmas Presents was to order some clothing labels.  I went with 'Dutch Rose Designs'.  I'll tell you why.  My family background is Dutch and my maiden name translated means 'Valley of the Roses' (I think, I'm sure I'll be corrected if I'm wrong).  So I though Dutch Rose Designs had a nice sound to it.  The quilt block name is also Dutch Rose.  I figure if I ever get around to opening an Etsy shop or doing some sewing for others, I should have a 'name'.  I thought they would be a little nicer in home sewn clothing than the generic ribbon I usually put it to distinguish front from back.

I've put these in the flannel pants I've made and we'll see how they wear.  They were more stiff than I was expecting, so I want to see how they wash and how the color holds up.

Well, I must confess I'm disappointed.  This is after three washes.  It is still quite stiff - although none of the kids have complained, yet.  The color faded significantly after just one washing.  And one of the labels has already begun to tear along the stitch line.  I won't be ordering this kind again.

What do you do for labels?  Any experience or words of wisdom?

I order from Charm Woven Labels. They are fabric, embroidered labels and I have been very pleased with them. They come on a long strip and you cut them apart and have to turn in the ends when stitching them on. Even so, they have a nice look and I've not noticed that they fade. I can show you one on Sunday if I remember to take one to church.

It's good to get a review on labels. What are the ones that the lady on Red Pepper quilts uses? She seems to be happy with hers.
