Extended Family Tuesday

This past weekend, My Dad, My Daughters and Myself all headed out to Iowa to visit my Grandmother.  She turned 97 this past August, and since baby Mina was born this summer, we didn't have a chance to make it out and visit yet.  This was the time!

Grandma with her namesake great-grandchild.  At last count Grandma has 9 grandchildren and 23 great-grandchildren.  And really, if some of my cousins kids would get married and have kids, there could easily be some great-greats added.
Quilting and sewing certainly runs in the family, and check this out:  Grandma followed my tutorial and made her own fabric basket, with some patchwork included!  I think hers turned out better than mine, and I will write an addendum to the tutorial to add some more tips for a better finish. (you'll notice various quilted and fabric and fiber creations in the background of the pictures)
Grandma, Me, my Dad, M, and E.  Four generations.
While we were there Grandma gave me this beautiful prayer for children, translated from Dutch and stitched out.  I plan to frame it and hang it in the girls' room with some other special things.

It was a wonderful weekend.

Beautiful memories made for you all. Definitely a strong family resemblance through the generations too. Is your family of Dutch descent? I had thought maybe German with a name such as Wilhemina.
