Sheep & Wool Festival

This past weekend was the Sheep and Wool Festival in Jefferson, WI.   It had been a couple years since we last attended, so we drove out to see the sheep.

Sheep shearing.  It's quite an art! (and good exercise)  In the background those people standing are waiting for an ewe to lamb.  We got to see it!
There was a small quilt and rug display.  All made with wool, of course.

There were two large barns chock full of everything fiber for sale.  Wool and other yarns, and things for weaving, spinning, knitting and crochet.  My engineer boy was entranced by the spinning wheels.

Have you ever done any sewing/crafting with wool?

I have been drawn to wool applique for a while now. I have been collecting kits and bits of wool. I am not happy with my applique skills and have only recently started on any pieces. When Primitive Gatherings visited guild this year, it kind of got me a excited. I joined their Snowman BOM but haven't started it yet, hahahaha. The story of my life - good intentions!

Sheep shearing is an amazing event. I don't know if I could do it, I always think it hurts them which I know it doesn't but still pretty much a city girl in that respect -lol-
Back in the day I did quite a bit of tailoring in wool. It is a beautifu fabric to work with especially in cooler times of year.
Have a great day.
Always, Queenie
