Sewing for hire.
Do you do it? Have you done it? Will you never do it again? What are your thoughts?
This comes up as a co-worker of Mr. Riley asked if I would put together a T-shirt quilt for him out of his running T's. I came up with what I thought was a reasonable proposal, which was certainly cheaper than the on-line places he was looking at, and am now awaiting a decision.
I have done some 'sewing for hire' in the past, and its an OK way to make a little money. But when something you like to do becomes something you have to do, its not always fun anymore. At this point its probably the primary reason I haven't considered an etsy shop or something similar.
So this isn't usually a discussion blog, but I'm curious as to what you all think about it?

"When something you like to do becomes something you have to do, its not always fun anymore." Probably says it all! Now that I'm older I'm way to stingy with my time so it needs to be a "charity opportunity" or it really isn't fun for me.
My friend Heather and I have tossed around the idea of creating scrapbooks for "hire", and we've actually done a few together for gifts, but we decided to keep it at that- just gifts. I like to keep my options open- I'm always willing to create something for friends or my MOPS group, but I doubt I would ever make it "official", like an Etsy shop. It's the whole pressure thing.
