2014 Temperature Quilt

Happy New Year!  Tomorrow is Epiphany, after which I will take down the Christmas Tree, but until then I am enjoying it being up without the stress of Christmas itself.

I have a ton of things that need to be blogged, so I thought I would start with the Temperature Quilt for 2014.
The main part is done.  Now on to the borders.  Right now it measures 60 x 62, so I will probably do a bit of fudging on the borders to square it up.  I also have a ton of work to do to get the back prepped.  I plan on doing a piece with each temperature range embroidered on it so that the front can be referred to the back for historical information.  I also have a couple of 'vacation' strips to figure into the back as well.  If you are looking at this and wondering about the stripes; the vertical ones indicate a record low, the horizontal ones represent a record high.

And I admit that I am thinking of doing one for 2015.  Something smaller though.
This is my first mock up.  I would also like to include lows for some interest,
so perhaps half square triangles.  What do you think?  I didn't want to take the time to color in all 730 triangles, but I think you get the idea.  I feel rather adrift when I think of not having a temperature quilt to work on.

Love how the temp quilt turned out Rachel. And I think the HST idea with highs and lows is fun idea.
