I can buy fudge any time I want, and yes I could make it myself. But the best fudge of all is the fudge my father-in-law sends us at Christmas time. I love and asked for a double batch this year. I have his recipe, but have never made it. He only makes it in November. :)
My favorite is almond roca - my mom always makes her homemade recipe for the holidays!

Every year my husband makes a Christmas Eve cake called Streusel Kuchen, or a variation of it. It is topped with cinnamon and chopped pecans. Yum!

I love my grandmothers gingerbread cookies but we only make them at Christmas.

I really like fudge (magic marshmallow kind), which we always make for Christmas. Pumpkin pie for Thanksgiving. Deviled eggs for Easter. Candy corn for Halloween. I could go on...

The Bavarian Torte from the 70's version of Betty Crockers Cookbook, the two-egg chocolate chiffon one with 5 layers. ymmmm
Dominosteine! Little cubes made up of layers of gingerbread, marzipan, and sweet jammy fruity stuff, all covered in dark chocolate. Yum!

Cranberry sauce has always been a favorite. It seems so special, since we only had it on Thanksgiving...I always wondered how my aunts made it with those perfect ridges...

Cheese souffle. My tutu would always serve it for Christmas dinner, along with our ham. When we moved to the Mainland, my mom continued the tradition, and now that's she's gone, my husband makes it for me. We only ever have it for Christmas, but it's my favorite!

My favorite holiday food is Pizzaghienna, an Italian custom meat pie that we make only on Good Friday before Easter & chomp at the bits until after midnight to be able to eat some (no meat on Friday's during Lent for good little Catholics!)

there is a little steak and pizza shop in my home town that makes the best ever Cheeseburger subs... I miss not being able to stop by Capt. Gus's steak shop in Lancaster pa for that special treat now that I am in Florida. Wish I could travel just to get one.
