A Thank You and A Finish

First, let me take a moment to breathe.  Wow.  200 followers.  I. Am. Stunned.  We are going to have to celebrate.  Once this week's giveaway is over, we'll do something big next week.  BIG!

Welcome to all the new people.  A bit about me: I am a stay at home mom of 4 kids.  Ages 2.5 - 9.  I like to sew things.  Lately its been mostly quilts, of all sizes, but I do sew apparel and costumes, and other random things as well.  I even occasionally do a little crafting.  At the top of the page you can browse my previous quilt finishes.

OK, on to today's finish.
It started out as a kit.  All the pieces printed on one sheet, and backing fabric as well.
Here it is up on the wall.  I did get it finished by December 1st!  Super simple quilting.  Just along the grid lines and the trees on the main part of the calendar.  On the picture part I did freemotion outlining with clear thread.  Just to add texture, plus then you can't see my mistakes!
The kit came with a bag to keep the numbers in.  I went ahead and put batting between the top and back of each number and then satin stitched around the edge.  You are supposed to sew on safety pins for hanging.  I haven't gotten there yet.  Sounds so boring, sitting and sewing on 31 safety pins!

A shot of the back.  I love the backing fabric.  Christmasy, without being tooooo Christmasy.  I once again employed the corner pockets for hanging with a dowel.
Finished size 16.5" x 25"

So now I've got the printed directions part of the fabric left.
I'm thinking I may use it for hexies.  That would certainly add some interest to the quilt!

  1. Love the idea of using the text for hexies! I made an advent calendar from a panel this year too, I really hope I kept the text part!
