Today I re-organized a craft cupboard for the kids. It had previously been half china, half coloring books, but I realized that: A. The china was not going to survive this situation, and B. The coloring books get far more use than the china. So I decided to give the whole cupboard over to the kids and put my china in a higher and safer place (although harder for me to get down).
It's not perfect, but better than before. The stuff that I don't want the kids to reach on their own is at the top. Crayons and coloring books (they multiply in the dark) at the bottom.
This brings me to crayons. We have hundreds of crayons. We have crayons that were mine, my husbands, and quite possibly crayons from the sixties. And every year for school, we buy MORE crayons.
As I was putting all the crayons in their new box, I noticed the Crayola labels that changed over time. I think the smell has changed too, although that probably has something to do with the fact that Crayola used to make them with lard, and now use vegetable oils. (My dog used to happily eat crayons - must have been the lard)
This is great! I do agree that crayons smell different now. Your blog is so pretty! And I love how you post so many pictures. Yep. Gotta figure out how to do that. And I need to beautify my blog. It's quite, well, BARE. Keep blogging...I like what I see. :)
ReplyDeleteI found a Crock-Pot recipe to turn your crayon pieces into usable chunks--it sounds completely random and a little fun!
