Meet 'Blue Eyes'. She is a small art quilt that I created for the "Friendship and Devotion" Challenge from Quilting Arts Magazine. She finishes at just 8" x 10".
Most of the time on this quilt was spend on the embroidery of the face and flowers! Each flower has a small blue seed bead in the middle.
The back is just some fun fabric I had from my kitchen many years ago.
The best part is that you can change her clothes! Right now I only have one dress for her, but do plan on making a couple more.
So why 'Blue Eyes'? When I was a girl my mom made a few cloth dolls (probably for a church bazaar) and I got to have one. She had brown hair, like me, but beautiful blue eyes, unlike me. I named her Blue Eyes (original, no?) I did love that doll. Until the fateful day that I tried to put pink chapstick on her yarn mouth. She was never the same. I still get that sad feeling in my gut when I think about that. So, the challenge from the magazine asked Who was/is your BFF? and I thought of Blue Eyes.
Now I'm off to prep quilts for the show next week!
