I am rather pleased with it, even though Mr. Riley thinks its rather gaudy. I have big plans to use it for a belt for a holiday outfit - but we'll see. I made it out of sparkle felt. You can find the tutorial here - from Megan Reardon of Not Martha. She used Fabritac for gluing the petals. I went ahead and used my glue gun. I think it worked just fine.
I think you could make all sorts of beautiful flowers based on this tutorial. Just different petal shapes. Paper might be a neat way to go as well.
Oooh, I think it's wonderful!
ReplyDeleteI think it turn out rather nice Mr. Riley.

This is so fab! It would really look nice on a belt! ^^)
ReplyDeleteI think it's gorgeous!!!
ReplyDeleteBut I have been accused of the occassional gaudiness (and proud of it!)...so I might not be the best judge. LOL
I made one too! I clipped mine on a pillow, but I've worn it too. I think it's super cute. http://lisasroombyroom.blogspot.com/2010/11/pillow-talk-ii.html

I've made numerous felt dahlias for teacher gifts (lots of daycare teachers too), and I've loved every single one I've made. I used hot glue as well - I'm not patient enough to wait for fabric glue! Sparkle felt is a great idea for a holiday-themed pin - well done!
